Filmmaker Amma Asante has received her Most Excellent Order of the British Empire finally.
The reception has come about three months after she got honoured by the Queen of England. Asante received the MBE from Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, at the Buckingham Palace.
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is an award that is given by the Queen of England to an individual for outstanding service to the community or local ‘hands on’ service.
Amma Asante is a British-Ghanaian filmmaker who trained at the Barbara Speake Stage School. She was a member of BBC’s Grange Hill.
She owns Tantrum Films, and was head writer for BBC2 series Brothers & Sisters.
