The organisers of the AITEO CAF Awards have apologized to Ghanaians and to Shatta Wale for not allowing the artiste to perform at the event.
“This omission, contrary to some reported media account, was not deliberate. Far from it, Shatta is an artiste whose work and reputation we continue to hold in the exalted heights that he has attained. It is this appreciation that led to his inclusion amongst those listed to perform. That this did not happen did not occur through any actions on the part of the organisers. As sponsors charged with the implementation of various parts of the arrangements on the day, we take responsibility for the omission and offer our unreserved apologies to the government and good people of Ghana,” AITEO said in a statement.
There were only three Ghanaian artistes billed for the event but only two of them (Efya and KiDi) performed on the night. According to some reports, Shatta Wale did not perform because he didn’t go for rehearsals and sound check.
KiDi closed the show and some people say that he performed at a time when everyone had left so he performed to chairs.
