The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture for Ghana, Catherine Afeku, has said that her outfit is getting ready to launch a new television channel that will help boost tourism in the country.
The Minister said to Citi Showbiz at a symposium organized by the Black Star International Film Festival that the channel will help to reorient Ghanaians with a new sense of national pride in their culture.
“We have a lot of creative content and we are competing with foreign countries which are saturating our media platform. So 9 months ago, I came up with a concept that we need an outlet for our creative arts people,” she said.
“It didn’t come easy but we have finally gotten our license. This will give a platform for our festivals, the music, and the shows that never get airtime. That is what the TV channel is all about.”
Ghana’s tourism sector has been receiving a lot of criticism recently, with many governments promising to revamp it but doing little.
