DRAKE has reportedly unfollowed on-again, off-again girlfriend (or friend, depending on who you believe) Rihanna on Instagram, in the surest sign yet the two are no longer mates.
The rapper sent fans into a tizzy when Instagram users figured out he no longer follows his former collaborator and rumoured flame on the social media site after she spoke to Vogue about their seemingly now ex-friendship.
The trouble started after the pop goddess gave an interview to Vogue in which she proclaimed that she and Drake were no longer friends, collaborators, or anything else.
“We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either. It is what it is.”
While she gave no further indication as to why their friendship self-combusted, she did mention that Drake’s introduction of her at the VMA’s in 2016 made her a bit uncomfortable.
“She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old,” Drake pined, as he presented her with the Video Vanguard Award. “She’s one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life, I’ve looked up to her even though she’s younger than me. She’s a living, breathing legend in our industry.”
Rihanna told Vogue she wasn’t overly impressed by such a public declaration of love.
“The VMAs is such a fan-focused awards show, so having that energy around me, and knowing the people who had received the award in the past, made it feel like a big deal,” she said. “Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part. I don’t like too many compliments; I don’t like to be put on blast.”
